The Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria in collaboration with the Instituto Mediterraneo di Ematological (IME) Foundation, is pleased to offer the opportunity for free bone marrow transplantation to some children with sickle cell anaemia.
 
Bone marrow (haemopoietic stem cell) transplantation is recognized as the only cure for now for sickle cell anaemia. The transplantation will be done in Rome at the Transplant Centre of the IME.
 
This service is available for children with Hb SS whose parents would like them transplanted. They should be no more than 16 years old. The normal price of the procedure (110,000 USD) will be waived.
