Reducing Child Mortality Through Early Detection
Sickle cell disorder contributes to 8% of child mortality in Nigeria. Over 150,000 children are born with SCD annually. Our Newborn Screening Programme aims to reduce this by supporting primary and secondary healthcare facilities in Nigeria with screening kits, medications, and comprehensive education.
By screening for SCD early, we can implement preventive measures, provide adequate medications, and offer counseling for families. This empowers them to give children born with SCD the proper care they need to lead healthy, productive, and fulfilling lives.
